Consentino Weekly Update- 9/21/24

Good morning Charger Nation!

Happy Saturday!

Another solid full week at Consentino! Our 5th and 7th graders are in the process of trying out a new way of doing the WIN block where students move to different classes to receive intervention or enrichment based on their iReady placement as opposed to remaining in the same class (Walk to WIN). Like anything new, we’re, of course, finding hiccups along the way, but the team is working together to address them as they pop up.  Additionally, this week about 30 of our 8th graders will begin participating in virtual tutoring in math through a Department of Elementary & Secondary Education program. Those families should have received some communication from our Math Coach, Laurel Tomasz yesterday. We will have additional opportunities for tutoring as the year goes on for other students and grades.

Our after school programs are full steam as well. Cross Country is well underway and our first Dance Team meeting was yesterday with a great turnout. This week is tryouts for cheer and we’re anticipating nearly 100 students will participate in tryouts.

On Tuesday we’ll be hosting an informational meeting for students interested in running for Student Council office. We’re excited to host our own “election day” on November 4th!

This Friday is the first school dance of the year and is for all grades from 4-6 pm. The cost is $5 and tickets will be on sale during lunches. Concessions will be available for purchase at the dance. Students who have been suspended, attended PASS, or earned 5 or more detentions this year will not be permitted to participate. Students must be present on the day of the dance to attend.

We really appreciate everyone’s understanding with the buses this week. We are not trying to be difficult! Ultimately the district has enough buses to service the students who meet the criteria set by the Haverhill School Committee. When students who do not meet that criteria board the buses, we risk overcrowding, which is a major safety risk. We appreciate your understanding!

As a final reminder, this Wednesday (9/25) is an early release for staff professional development. Consentino students will be dismissed at 11:05 am.

We hope you all have a great weekend with your families and we’ll see you Monday!
