Consentino Weekly Update- 8/23/24

Good evening Charger Nation!

Happy Friday!

Many of our teachers are back in the building today, eagerly preparing for our students to return on Tuesday! We’re very excited for what this year will bring!

As a reminder, classes/schedules are currently up on SchoolBrains. These should be considered accurate by 4pm today. Please remember, we will generally not honor requests for specific teachers and/or group changes unless there is a documented reason. All of our staff members are fantastic and our groups are all a good mix of various students that were carefully created by our staff. That said, there is always some movement in the first few weeks and we’re constantly looking at peer interactions. Thank you in advance for your understanding!

Please read the below information carefully. The first few days of school can be hectic and everyone following the plan is key to things running smoothly.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Open House 8/26 from 5:30-7 pm:
Open House is more directed at our NEW students, particularly our incoming 5th graders. However, all are welcome. Make sure to mark your calendars for the 7th Annual Back to School BBQ on September 12th!

Supplies:
Students should plan to come to school with:

  • Backpack
  • Water bottle
  • Wired headphones
  • Charged Chromebook and charger (new students will be issued a device in the first few days)

All other supplies will be provided by the school.

If you are in need of a backpack, please contact me directly or visit the Family Resource Center/Registration located at the Burnham School on Fountain St. Please ask for Maria Maldonado Cruz.

Bus Routes & Bus Eligibility:
Bus routes can be found on the HPS website at https://www.haverhill-ps.org/2024-2025-bus-routes/. Students entitled to take a bus according to School Committee policy should have received an email. If you believe your child should receive a bus and do not receive an email, please contact our Transportation Department directly by emailing transportation@haverhill-ps.org. Please note that 7th and 8th grade students must be more than two miles from school to ride the bus per School Committee Policy.

SchoolBrains & Communication:
SchoolBrains: Class assignments, progress reports, report cards, and grade updates are all located in SchoolBrains. We do what we can to reduce paper use as much as possible. If you do not have a SchoolBrains Community Portal account, please visit https://www.haverhill-ps.org/technology/athome/portal/.

It is ESSENTIAL that your contact information in SchoolBrains is up to date so that we can communicate with you in a timely manner. This is especially important in terms of bus timing, etc. the first few weeks of school.

ParentSquare: Our district has transitioned from SchoolMessenger to ParentSquare. ParentSquare allows you to decide in what format and at what frequency you wish to receive school communications. To create an account, please visit https://www.parentsquare.com/select_school/new. An App is available for download for iOS and Android.

Remind and Email: The school continues to use Remind. To start an account, visit https://www.remind.com/sign_in. To email a staff member directly, please visit https://consentino.haverhill-ps.org/our-team/ and click on the staff member’s name. Please note, these options will not be available until August 26th.

Charger PRIDE and DeansList:
Our PRIDE Program is our school-wide system of values and behavior management. This is explicitly taught to students on Day 1 and periodically throughout the year. It is highly recommended that families learn about the program which can be found at https://consentino.haverhill-ps.org/pride-policy/. DeansList is the portal we use to track the PRIDE program, new families will be invited to DeansList shortly. Please reach out if you do not get an invitation by the start of school. DeansList for Families is available for download for iOS and Android.

Arrival & Dismissal:
Student arrival starts at 8:05 am. Please do NOT drop your student off before this point. Students should be at school no later than 8:30 am.

Student dismissal is at 2:45 pm. Please DO NOT arrive at the campus until 2:30 pm; the entrance will be closed.
