Consentino Weekly Update- 4/12/25

Good morning Charger Nation!

Happy snowy Saturday!

Over the past two weeks our kids have been working hard on ELA MCAS, with the 8th grade finishing up yesterday. To date, we only have 9 students in the entire school who need to make up a session. This is absolutely amazing! Thank you so much for your help in ensuring that everyone is at school every day. This week we’ll knock out those remaining make-ups before heading out to vacation. We are extremely proud of the perseverance they’ve all shown over the past two weeks and we know they’ll put forward that same effort when we pick up with Math after the break.

This week is our Spring Spirit Week, the day themes are:

  • Monday- Color Wars (8th= pink, 7th= yellow, 6th= green, 5th= purple)
  • Tuesday- Insideout/Backwards Day
  • Wednesday- PJ Day
  • Thursday- Anything But a Backpack Day

There is NO SCHOOL on Friday (4/18). School will resume after the April Vacation on 4/28.

Our 5th grade field trip to Strawberry Bank in Portsmouth will be on 4/29 and 5/1. If you have questions about the trip, please feel free to reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher.

7th and 8th-grade families, as a reminder, students must pass 3 out of 4 of their core content classes in order to be promoted to the next grade level. Students not meeting this criteria will be required to attend the Bridge Program at Haverhill High School over the summer. Please review your child’s grades carefully over the next few months (progress reports out 5/6) and feel free to reach out to your child’s teachers directly with any questions.

The last day for 8th grade yearbook cover design submissions, orders, and baby photo submissions is this Thursday (4/17). If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Shea at samantha.shea@haverhill-ps.org

As announced earlier, the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony will take place on 6/10 at 5:30 pm. The ceremony will take place outside near our main entrance and is open to all family members, but we ask that each family limit to 6 attendees. Families are invited to bring their own lawn chairs. Should we need to pivot to indoors due to inclement weather, all students will be limited to two guests. The dinner and dance (students only) will follow the ceremony. Only students being promoted may attend the dinner and dance.

We are in the process of planning for the removal of the 1969 time capsule housed in the cornerstone of the existing building in celebration of the roughly 1-year mark until the NEW Consentino is occupied. Construction is certainly coming along! Stay tuned for details!

We hope you all have a great week and we’re crossing our fingers for a beautiful April Vacation. Please see below for important updates and dates.

Take care!

8th Grade Yearbook:

Cover Art: Cover Art submissions are being accepted from now until April 17th! Covers can be designed on a blank white piece of 8.5 x 11 paper if students would like to hand-draw/color a cover submission, or they can be designed online and sent to Ms. Shea by email as a PDF. All cover submissions for the front or back cover are due by April 17th. If students would like to see samples from previous years, they can stop by room 32.

Orders: Order forms for yearbooks were sent out before the February break. Yearbooks will now be $11 each, which includes shipping. If the cost is an issue, please speak to Ms. Shea in room 32 directly. Yearbook order forms need to be filled out and returned with payment by April 17th.

The PTO has generously offered to help to pay for yearbooks by giving $5 for each yearbook, bringing the cost per book from $16 to $11. If your student has already paid and would like their $5 refund, please have them see Ms. Shea in room 32. If not, we will put the extra money towards the staff books and any students who cannot afford one.

Baby Photos: We often do a Guess Who for the last few pages of the yearbook. Baby photos can be brought as a physical photo to Ms. Shea in Room 32 or a digital version can be emailed directly to Ms. Shea at samantha.shea@haverhill-ps.org. Baby Photos are due by April 17th.

For any other questions, please email Ms. Shea at samantha.shea@haverhill-ps.org
