Consentino Weekly Update- 4/5/25

Good morning Charger Nation!

Happy Saturday!

Our 5th and 6th graders did a FANTASTIC job this week with ELA MCAS! Our 7th and 8th graders pick up on Monday, so please remember to ensure your child is at school on time with a charged Chromebook.

Below are a few important reminders, please take a look.

Have a great weekend!

8th Grade Yearbook:

Cover Art: Cover Art submissions are being accepted from now until April 17th! Covers can be designed on a blank white piece of 8.5 x 11 paper if students would like to hand-draw/color a cover submission, or they can be designed online and sent to Ms. Shea by email as a PDF. All cover submissions for the front or back cover are due by April 17th. If students would like to see samples from previous years, they can stop by room 32.

Orders: Order forms for yearbooks were sent out before the February break. Yearbooks will now be $11 each, which includes shipping. If the cost is an issue, please speak to Ms. Shea in room 32 directly. Yearbook order forms need to be filled out and returned with payment by April 17th.

The PTO has generously offered to help to pay for yearbooks by giving $5 for each yearbook, bringing the cost per book from $16 to $11. If your student has already paid and would like their $5 refund, please have them see Ms. Shea in room 32. If not, we will put the extra money towards the staff books and any students who cannot afford one.

Baby Photos: We often do a Guess Who for the last few pages of the yearbook. Baby photos can be brought as a physical photo to Ms. Shea in Room 32 or a digital version can be emailed directly to Ms. Shea at samantha.shea@haverhill-ps.org. Baby Photos are due by April 17th.

For any other questions, please email Ms. Shea at samantha.shea@haverhill-ps.org

Washington, DC:
8th grade families are invited to join the Remind group for the Washington, DC trip. This is how we’ll communicate for meetings, fundraising, etc. Once we’re on the trip we’ll also share pictures and updates. To join https://remind.com/join/abcindc25. Our next MANDATORY meeting is May 22nd at 6 pm. All students and their parent/guardian must attend.

Steps Towards Health
In partnership with UMass Amherst, we are organizing a free parent nutritional program, designed to empower parents with the knowledge and skills to make healthier food choices for their families. Using their “CHOICES: Steps Towards Health” curriculum, participants will learn about nutrition, physical activity, food safety, and healthy shopping habits. The program is available in English and Spanish, with both in-person and online options to accommodate different schedules. Each session includes engaging lessons, hands-on activities, and valuable take-home materials. Upon completion of at least six lessons, participants will receive a graduation certificate, a reusable shopping tote bag, and a cookbook featuring healthy recipes.

If you are interested in joining, please use the form, more details to come! We will also be offering a student version called Kids in the Kitchen, reach out if you’d like your child to participate.

Project Y
The Y is looking for students to volunteer for their Project Y event, in which students get to choose from a variety of planned projects to be a part of. All these opportunities will help our students integrate in a wholesome way with our community and fosters empathy, teamwork, and problem-solving—essential life skills that go beyond the classroom.
